A Novel Look at a Little-Known Queen – The San Diego Union Tribune

Interview by John Wilkens

Having immersed yourself in Emma’s life, what do you most admire about her?
I think it had to have been her backbone. She must have had a heck of a backbone to deal with the kinds of men that she would have had to deal with in that day and age. Her great-grandfather was a Viking, and she was married to a king of England who was not particularly known as a warrior-king, but later on she was married to a Viking. When I think of the older Emma, I think of Hillary Clinton. She was running with the wolves.
